Why Study Abroad?
Studying abroad through a high school exchange program brings lots of opportunities. It changes you in a positive way by helping you understand a different culture, learn a new language, and know more about the world. You get to experience a different way of life, see education from a new angle, and make friends from somewhere else in the world. This helps you grow as a person, become more independent, and learn how to adjust to different situations, which is always a great skill to have. You’ll learn to appreciate differences, learn new things, and when you come back home, you won’t just have gained academic knowledge, but also about the world around you.
High school is a great time to start an adventure of studying in another country because it is different from when you are older. During this time, you’re curious and open to new things, which makes it the perfect time to learn about other cultures. This is when you learn important skills like being flexible and learning resilience. Understanding different cultures and diverse environments can help you a lot in your future school and job.
When you study abroad in high school, you’re planting the seeds for being better at understanding the world, growing as a person, and wanting to explore more, which can change your life in big ways. Going abroad with a high school program also means you are never alone, you will always have the support of your host family, STS Foundation, and a local representative in your host country.
