Hello! My name is Algot. I am a guy from Sweden who personally liked making you this letter. I look so forward to my journey in America, it’s really a childhood dream coming true. And I still can’t believe that it’s happening.
I live in an urban neighborhood just outside Stockholm with my folks and two younger sisters. And you can’t forget the cutest dog in existence, which is my dog. And I’d very much die on that hill if you’re wondering. So if you have a dog, I could always help with them.
I train kickboxing, and I really love it. After each training I feel myself growing more and more passionate. It happens that I ponder over whether I should really commit myself to training, but then I wouldn’t have time to write this letter for example. And the US is always going to be my top priority.
One of my most defining qualities is my creativity, which underlines a lot of things I do. I’d also like to call myself tenacious, although this determination can sometimes be a double edged sword.
My biggest motivation in initiating this whole thing is mainly self growth. A few months ago I used to be a little bit introverted, But that all changed when I participated in a language trip. It shattered my entire view on life. It broke me down into nothing and then rebuilt me. It gave me insight into why life really is worth living. To this day, I have never been happier. I’ve pondered what made it so special many times. Maybe it was because there was always something happening, and thus I was forced to always live in the present. But I think the biggest reason must have been the adventure, to be alone from home, in a foreign land, to forget all your prior faults and start over.
That, is my deepest goal for the US.
I don’t know how much you know about Sweden, but we are very invested in America. For me at least, I already have a unique relationship with the US because it’s practically been like my second home. If you use the internet, you’re there. And still, I haven’t even visited you guys, ones. So of course if I’m going to live in another country it’s going to be the US.
I also want to be an author when I grow up, and English just sounds cooler than Swedish. So I’m hoping to improve my literary prowess to the degree where I can express myself absolutely fluently.
The language trip was among the best two weeks of my life, and was more groundbreaking for me than I could ever express in words. So the next step was naturally an exchange year. With consideration to how much I evolved there, it’s impossible to predict how much I’ll develop by living a year with the most extroverted people on the planet.
I hope you see me fitting into your family. I see myself spending a lot of time with you guys and creating a lot of happy moments to remember. Maybe sitting near a fireplace and playing monopoly. Who knows?
