About this Student

My name is Jaron. I live with my family and my three siblings in a house in a small town in the north of Germany. We are a happy and open-minded family, there is always something going on. I have a pet cat, my sister has 4 guinea pigs and my big sister has 2 ponies.

I think the most important thing about me is that I am a very active person. I play on a basketball team. I also go to a gym and, if time permits, I go with my siblings to a swimming club nearby called DLRG (German Life Rescue Association).

Teamwork is very important at our school and we also have many social projects. So I took part in the “Responsibility” project. It is the student’s job to spend a few hours a week doing something for other people, animals or nature without being paid for it. For a year I helped distribute food to poor people (food bank) who have little to live on.

I’m looking forward to going to America because I want to see what life can be like in another country. I want to know what is different than in Germany, but also what is the same. The best way to find out is to be part of a family. Thank you for your offer to host an exchange student. I’m interested in everything I know about America from TV or school, and I also look forward to seeing how American children live and learn at school. I also hope to improve my English, make new friends and become part of everyday life in my host family.
